OPA

Abbreviation for the Office of Price Administration, a U.S. wartime agency established in August 1941 to stabilize prices by establishing maximum prices for commodities. It also rationed scarce essential commodities and authorized subsidies to produce some of them. The OPA was abolished in May 1947.
