Vinogradov, Sergei Ivanovich (1903-1940)
Soviet diplomat beginning in 1924. From 1931 to 1936, Vinogradov was assistant press attaché in London. From 1936 to 1939, he served as assessor [referent] of the Third Western Department of the Commissariat of Foreign Affairs, or NKID. Vinogradov perished in Stalin’s purges after being fired from the NKID on May 14, 1939. He was rehabilitated posthumously in the 1950s. 1
